It imitates the softshell crayfish, the most important food for river smallies. This fly sinks quickly and rides hook-up, to avoid snags. For sheer numbers of fish, this fly is king. |

Tool Combo

If you've been in my boat, then you know that this combination of tools is my best friend when guiding. The combo includes a Tie-Fast knot tyer (with instructions), line clippers with hook eye cleaner and a swivel clip to attach it on your vest. I use the swivel clip for tying cinch knots on dropper rigs as a time saver as well. As you can see from the photo, I use mine so much that most of the black powder coating is worn off. |
